Amapi Village
World famous as a 'model village'. A test environment for new urban strategies and ideas. Amapi is also notorious for crime and vandalism.
A.U.S
Australasian Union of States. Terran political federation formed after the major collapse of the 21st century, included old earth nations of Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Samoa, and assorted other Micronesian island states.
Ganymede Colony
Ganymede Colony was one of the first beneficiaries of recently developed advance terraforming techniques, and is the only place in the Solar System where authentic "Europa Cocktails" can be purchased.
L1 and L2 Orbital Colonies
Twin satellite colonies in close orbit around the Moon, at libration points 1 and 2. L1 is populated mostly by academics and astrophysics specialists. L2 is an industrial colony and collection depot (utilising it's numerous mass catchers). Unlike colonies at the other three libration point colonies (O'Neal, Heppenheimer  and Dyson) the inhabitants of L1 and L2 prefer to call their homes by their Lagrange designations (commonly know as "the Ells").
M.I.T.
Mainline Institute of Technology. An "infonet only" university available to Earth Citizens for free. Not to be confused with pre-collapse Michigan Institute of Technology.
Near Space
A volume of space approximately 50 light years in radius from Sol.
Nor Am
Popular name for the North American Confederation. This consists of the old states of the United States, Canada, Mexico and Panama. Other old states on the North American continent are either client states of Nor-Am, the European Union, or of the South American Union.

Olympus Mons University
So-called because its original comms transmitter was based on Olympus Mons, this is the first trans-terrestrial higher educational establishment, and caters to long distance students not only in the Solar System, but also in others systems as well. The main campus is actually located within Phobos but this is mostly administrative in nature.
Otaku University
Established after the collapse on New Nippon. Otaku students pride themselves on their technological zeal and prowess. There is an "unofficial feud between Otaku, and MIT.
Pluto Base
Space port and "dry dock" for several of Earth's Astral Services. Run as a commercial venture, Pluto Base claims to be able to repair anything given enough time. There is a small but thriving community in nearby Charon, where workers at Pluto Base reside.
"South" in Space
An arbitrary measure of direction, which indicates that the direction or location pointed to is within a "Southern Hemisphere", as defined by the night skies of Earth. Not a very useful form of measurement in practice, nonetheless it captured the imagination of the general public on Earth.
Southern Cross
The volume of "Near Space" claimed by the AUS. An allusion to the presence of that constellation in several member state's flags. Not to be confused with the "High Frontier" (Nor-Am volume of influence), the "Big Beyond" (European Union) or the "Extraterrestrial Economic Zone" (Japanasian Coalition).
Theta Colony
Theta Colony is notable only for the reason that there was a massacre there.
